Accipiter nisus is a hawks species which has a larger size about 37-46 cm in length (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012). It is carnivorous and feeds on small birds and mammals such as young rabbits, voles, shrews, squirrels, and other small animals. This species breeds in Europe to China and winters in south to South East Asia (Phillipps, 2014).
Commonly known as Eurasian Sparrowhawk, A. nisus has a small head, slim body, and relatively short wings combined with a long tail that notched at the tip (del Hoyo et al., 1994). The male has a dorsal grey-blue while the female has a brown or grey-brown dorsal and its size is much larger than male, with darker, browner plumage above and white plumage below, with grey barring. The juvenile like female but has a brown colour above, with brown barring or spotting ventrally. This species is generally secretive and solitary except when living as a nesting pair.
