Description

Impatiens chikuensis is a perennial, glabrous herb resemblance I. foxworthyi, the other species from the same genus. They can be differentiated by the pale or creamy yellow flowers that produced from the former species which is more narrowly tubular. In addition, the flowers have a few large scarlet spots on the lower petal lobes. The leaves are spirally arranged and grow up to 20 cm tall and 15 mm diameter at the base. The species epithet, chikuensis referred to the locality where it is found, which is the FELDA Chiku limestone. The conservation status of this plant species is provisionally assessed as Critically Endangered because the limestone hill is not protected legally, vulnerable to fire and scheduled for quarrying activities over the place (Kiew, 2016).
