This fungus has convex cap that becoming plane with dark chocolate brown to chestnut brown closely appressed scales and incurved margin. It has white and thick flesh while its gills are crowded, white then clay buff and finally purplish brown. The stipe is cream to pale buff with ring-like zones of chestnut coloured fragments of the veil and a white mycelial pad at the base. The flesh of the cap and stipe turn reddish and the brownish when damaged. This fungus usually grows gregariously and in large groups on the soil and is common at FRIM as well as in other lowland rainforests in the country.
