Measuring around 15 cm in length, the Horsfield’s babbler is a species of bird with a short tail, dark greyish olive-brown crown and lighter olive-brown upperparts. It also has greyish white throat with breast, flanks and underparts greyish buff (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
This bird is endemic across Sundaland where it can be found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand (BirdLife International, 2016). It is known to reside the hilly parts of lowland rainforest in Peninsular Malaysia. The Horsfield’s babbler prefers small insects and berries as their foods and it usually produce a three-spaced whistles ‘chip-chop-chui’ (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993).
