Description
Cyanoderma chrysaeum or known commonly as Golden Babbler can be recognised from its body colour. The Golden Babbler is a small babbler growing up to 12 cm long and has narrowly striped crown, black half-mask and yellow underparts.The diet of Golden Babbler includes insects and berries and mostly found occuring in broadleaf evergreen forests, bamboo stands, dense bushes and Rubus thickets. Habitat destruction and fragmentation is suspected to be the major factor for the species’ population decline. Due to its commonness in the global, although rare and local in Nepal, it is listed as Least Concern in IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
