Psilopogon oorti or locally known as takur kening hitam in Malay or black-browed barbet in English is a small barbet which can grow up to 20 cm and can be identified by observing its head. The black-browed barbet has broad black supercilium and malar stripe, pale yellow crown, red hind crown and its ears hidden. It has bright yellow throat together with red patch on the sides of its neck and blue upper breast. It also has pale greenish orbital skin and blackish, short and stubby bill.
The range of distribution for this barbet is discontinuously in Oriental region, which coverings part of Southern China, Indochina, Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra. Black-browed barbet is only found near montane area, which is between 600 and 1800 m elevations. It is solitary but will gather in small groups in fruiting trees (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
