Description
Yellow-headed Temple Turtle is a freshwater turtle species. It inhabits lowland swamps and feeds mostly on aquatic plants. Juvenile of this species has a broad, round carapace with a sharp vertebral keel, distinct yellow stripes on the black head and neck, and a yellow plastron. As they grow, the shell becomes elongated, raised and flattened above without a trace of the keels. The head becomes grey-brown with dense yellow speckling and the plastron is smudged with black (Das, 2010). Males become larger and have a concave plastron. About 4-6 large oblong eggs in a clutch are laid by females.
