Description
Idionyx Yolanda (Shadowdancer) is a species of dragonfly in the family Synthemistidae. In male, the hindwing may measure up to 29 mm. The male also has a short and compact synthorax with metallic green and yellow lateral band, long inferior anal appendage and trifurcated towards the tip. Meanwhile, the female hindwing is measure around 30-33 mm with more open venation wings than I. laidlawi and basally tinted deep yellow, as it grows. The abdomen tip is only slightly clubbed (Orr, 2005).
This dragonfly normally breeds in small streams flowing through lowland forest marshes. It is quite common and furtive with dancing erratically over sun-dappled and glimmering water.
