Adult (Male)

Description

Orthetrum glaucum (Common Blue Skimmer) is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 34 mm with well-defined dark brown patch at the hindwing base. It also has a rounded margin and long abdomen nearly as the hindwing. The immatures species of Common Blue Skimmer have yellowish marks on synthorax that becoming fully blue with age, while the female is brown with obscure ochre markings. This species normally breeds in ponds, drains, ditches and other open lentic habitats. It is widespread in tropical Asia (Orr, 2005).
