Description
Chlorogomphus arooni is a species of dragonfly in the family Chlorogomphidae. The male hindwing may measure up to 48 mm while female is 54 mm. C. arooni can easily be differentiated from other Chlorogomphus in Peninsular Malaysia by its larger size and distinctive wing and body marking.
This dragonfly is commonly found in montane and sub-montane forest streams where adults are seen flying relatively slowly along streams throughout the day. Its larva is hirsute, wedge-shaped, broad at head and pointed at end where it can be seen in gravel at base of waterfalls. The larvae will sting predators with their sharp caudal appendages when it captured (Orr, 2005).
