Description
The white-crowned shama (Copsychus stricklandii) belongs to the family Muscicapidae and measures about 21 to 28 cm in length. This species is endemic to the South-east Asian island of Borneo.
This species has mainly blue-black upperparts in contrast with its orange-rufous underparts. It also has a white rump and black throat. The white-crowned shama appears similar to the white-rumped shama (Copsychus malabaricus) and can be differentiated by having a white crown in the former and black crown in the latter. Slightly different from the adult, the juvenile white-crowned shama has a black crown and upperparts with orange streaks and orange-creamy underparts.
