Description

Amphicnemis gracilis, commonly known as Will-o-wisp (Choong et al., 2017) is a damselfly species in family Coenagrionidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 20mm. This damselfly has exceedingly slender body and pale anal appendages. The superior anal appendage is deeply divided into two thin arms, very squat inferior anal appendage and has similar pterostigma in both wings. The female is polymorphic which is it will forms red when immatures and forms olive when matured and also has variably marked with dorsal metallic strip on its synthorax like Genus Teinobasis (Orr, 2005). Will-o-wisp inhabits lowland swamp forests and widespread in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Singapore and Thailand (Dow, 2019).
