Description
Heliocypha perforata (Common Blue Jewel) is a common damselfly species belonging to the family Chlorocyphidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 23 mm in length. This species can be distinguished from Heliocypha biforata (Magenta-backed Jewel) by the blue markings on thorax and sides of the abdomen. The Common Blue Jewel is widespread in mainland tropical Asia (Orr, 2005). It frequents swift-flowing streams and rivers in low hills and mountains (Wilson, 2018) but prefers faster water in more exposed situations (Orr, 2005).
