Description
Sundacypha petiolata (Sunda Jewel) is a damselfly species under family Chlorocyphidae. Its hindwing measures up to 21 mm. The male has red abdomen and broad dark patch on hindwing. While the female has brown colour with slight infuscation at the tips of both wings. This damselfly maintains their territories on the leaf packs and displayed the hindwing to the opponent during aggressive encounters. S. petiolate is widespread in Sundaland except for Java. It can be found on sluggish, alluvial brooks, clear and swift streams in dense lowland forest (Orr, 2005).
