Taxonomy

Description

Tetrathemis platyptera (Pigmy Skimmer) is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae.  This species is smaller than Tetrathemis irregularis but has very similar body markings. Its hindwing may measure up to 17.5 mm with deep yellow tint in basal half. Its forewing is slightly basal tint. Pigmy Skimmer is uncommon and local in alluvial swamp forest, guarding small pools. It is widespread in mainland tropical Asia and Sundaland except for Borneo (Orr, 2005).
