Description

This species is called Greenback Mullet that has moderately and compressed body; head width subequal to depth, flattened dorsally; adipose eyelid weakly developed posteriorly, not covering iris and hind tip of maxilla exposed when mouth closed. Its second dorsal and anal fins pointed but not falcate and emarginated caudal fin. It has silvery body and head, darkened dorsally and caudal fin bluish with dusky narrow margin. It inhabits in shallow coastal waters; frequently enters lower reaches of streams, estuaries and mangrove.
