Indonesian Flyingfish is elongate and cylindrical body; small and terminal mouth; lateral line with pectoral branch; large dorsal fin, its origin just above anal fin origin; short pectoral fin, its posterior tip extending beyond pelvic fin origin, but not reaching end of anal fin base and well forked caudal fin. Its body is silver, green to blue dorsally; dorsal fin entirely dark to black; large black area pectoral fin and lobe dusky lower caudal fin. Its maximum size is 18 cm and it inhabits pelagic in nearshore surface waters and never spread to open sea.
