Duncker’s River Garfish has an elongated and subcylindrical body. Its upper jaw is wider than long. The nasal papilla elongate and pointed. Meanwhile, the base of the dorsal fin is longer than the anal-fin base 6th anal ray of males greatly thickened and elongated, reaching beyond caudal base and nearly rounded caudal fin. It has light brown dorsally, becoming silvery white ventrally and no longitudinal black line on dorsal midline of upper jaw. It can be found in estuaries, mangrove areas, and feeds on small terrestrial insects.
