The taxonomic status is pending for approval

Description

Flateared Helmet Gurnard has moderately elongate body; second dorsal fin spine separated from third to seventh spines; granular projections on snout arranged in a row with wide and rounded snout. It has numerous dark spots on pectoral fin and large black blotch on middle of ray; blue spots and lines inside the middle black blotch and posterior margin of fin. This species generally found on mud-sand bottom at depth of 20-71 m with maximum length 22 cm.
