Taxonomy

The taxonomic status is pending for approval

Description

This species is commonly known as Yellow-striped Cardinalfish and it has oblong, moderately deep and compressed body; lateral line well developed; snout moderately pointed; posterior margin of preopercle serrated; no enlarged caninoid teeth on jaws; base of anal fin subequal to base of second dorsal fin in length and emarginated caudal fin. Its head and body is pale with 6 longitudinal yellow stripes with various; 3rd stripe short and extends from dorsal margin of eye to, or slightly beyond; stripe reaching onto caudal fin margin and a narrow stripe on whitish interspace on cheek and flank. It inhabits rocky or coral reefs.
