Lathrecista asiatica (Scarlet Grenadier) is a species of dragonfly in the family Libellulidae with the hindwing measuring up to 34 mm. The male has a very straight-sided abdomen that almost entirely dull red, the synthorax ground is coppery brown with mainly yellow colour on the sides. Meanwhile, the female has similar characteristic to male but with brown abdomen (Orr, 2005).

Scarlet Grenadier can be found in coastal marshes, swamps and often near forest margins in brackish water on the landward side of mangroves. It likes to perches with abdomen held vertically. This species is widespread in tropical Asia and Australasia (Orr, 2005). It normally breeds in ponds, marshes, swamp forest and shallow forest pools, and commonly found in oil palm plantations in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Kalimantan, where males have been found guarding muddy pools or in partly dry drainage ditches (Dow, & Kakkasery, 2017).
