Description

Anisophyllea curtisii is a small to medium sized tree that can reach up to 35 m tall and 55 cm in diameter. It has a smooth greenish-white to brown bark and pink to purplish-red inner bark. The leaves are elliptic-oblong to ovate with slender petiole, measuring about 0.5-0.7 cm long to 1 mm thick. The inflorescences are simple, spike-like at about 1 cm long. The flowers are unisexual and bracteates at the base (Kiew et al., 2018).

This species inhabits lowland and hill forests at 30-750 m altitude. It can be found in Peninsular Malaysia from Penang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Johor (Kiew et al., 2018). It also has been reported in Borneo (Sarawak) (Chen et al., 2015).
