Commonly known as Blyth’s Hawk Eagle or Helang-Rajawali Gunung in Malay (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012), Nisaetus alboniger is a species of bird in the Accipitridae (Hawks and Eagles) family. It is widely distributed across the Sundaland region ranging from Myanmar through Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo. In Malaysia, this bird is a common resident of montane forest up to 1,980 m altitude (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012; Phillips, 2014 ).
The Blyth’s Hawk Eagle has a medium-sized body measuring around 53 cm in length with black upperparts and a broad white band on its black tail. It also has a white underpart with black streaks on its breast and black barring on its belly (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
