Description
This attractive little Malayan Snail-eating Turtle is recognized by the three strong carapace keels and the large head with its white stripes. The yellow plastron bears black blotches on each scute. Females grow much larger than males. This turtle inhabits at lowland densely vegetated, shallow, warm and freshwater bodies. Males eat only aquatic snails and small shrimp while large females will take small mussels. During the dry season, up to 10 eggs are laid and hatch after the first heavy rain.
