Description

The epiphytic fern, Chrysogrammitis musgraviana, is usually found in protected microhabitats. There are only two species in the genus Chrysogrammitis (C. musgraviana and C. glandulosa) which both of them can be found in South Asia, Malesia (Malaysia, Indonesia, New Guinea, the Philippines and Brunei) and Pacific Islands (Parris, 2018). The distribution of C. musgraviana overlaps in Sumatra, Java, Borneo (Sabah, Sarawak) and the Philippines. It can be found in a much wider range than C. glandulosa and collected more frequently.

This fern has an adaxial surface of lamina, superficial sori and glabrous sporangia. Its rhizomes are dorsiventral with glandular and concolorous scales. Its pinnae are simple or if lobed, the pinnae with lateral vein once-forked are not pinnately branched. The glandular hairs are simple with whitish, pale yellow-brown or pale to dark red-brown, pale to medium yellow-brown or pale to medium red-brown in colour (Parris, 1998).
