Description

Pteroptyx tener is a species of synchronising firefly in the family Lampyridae. The head and antennae are very dark brown, while the pronotum (a prominent plate-like structure that covers all or part of the thorax) is orange-yellowish, and the elytra are brownish. It inhabits coastal rivers upstream in brackish waters or mangrove areas. It is distributed in Southeast Asia including Malaysia (Jusoh et al., 2018).
