Description
Neurobasis longipes (Long-legged Metalwing) is a damselfly species in family Calopterygidae. The male has iridescent green forewings and hyaline hindwings. The female has only hyaline wings but lacks of white pseudo-pterostigma on the wings. N. longipes resembles Neurobasis chinenses but they can be distinguished with N. longipes having longer legs than N. chinensis. Long-legged Metalwing is common in Borneo (Orr, 2003, 2005; Orr & Hamalainen, 2007). Its distribution in Peninsular Malaysia is rather restricted to Kelantan, Pahang and Johor (Orr, 2005; Orr & Hamalainen, 2007). It normally breeds in fast flowing streams in primary and secondary forests with altitude up to 1100 m above sea level (Orr & Hamalainen, 2007).
