Description
Libellago semiopaca (Yellow Jewel) is a damselfly species belonging to the family Chlorocyphidae. Its hindwing measures up to 15mm in length. It is commonly in clear swift streams in lowland forest to open banks of large muddy rivers and it can also be seen around the fallen timber (Orr, 2005). The males are often facing each other while hovering over the shared territories. They guard their mates by helicoptering to and fro above the females while they lay their eggs in the water. Yellow Jewel is widely distributed in lowland areas throughout Sundaland, except for Java (Lieftinck, 1954; Orr, 2005) and Bali (Lieftinck, 1954). It is also found in Borneo Island (Orr, 2003). This species is categorized as least concern in the IUCN Red List (Dow, 2019).
