Taxonomy

Description

Urothemis abbotti is a species of skimmer dragonfly belonging to the family Libellulidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 38 mm in length. This species is significantly larger than U. signata and has darker body marking, red abdomen with some dorsal black flecks, and much broader brown patch at the hindwing base (Orr, 2005).  It can be found in Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand (Dow, 2009).
