Ceriagrion bellona is an endemic species to Borneo (Dow, 2020). It belongs to the family Coenagrionidae. This genus has some of the most beautiful damselflies, which they come in shades of red, green and yellow. C. bellona is restricted to north Borneo and is recorded at 1,000 m on Mount Kinabalu as well as in the lowlands of Danum Valley. It has been found mating and ovipositing along a small stream in hill country on the forest edge in Tambunan.
The thorax of the males is orange and greenish with bright red abdomens while the females have olive green thorax. Males look quite similar to C. cerinorubellum (Ornate Coraltail) which is the more common of the two Ceriagrion species found in Borneo.
