Taxonomy

Description

Ceriagrion calamineum is a damselfly species in the family Coenagrionidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 19 mm. The colours are quite similar to C. auranticum but clearly larger and the female is olive in colour. Its inferior anal appendage is slightly shorter than superior anal appendage without terminal process. It also has very short and divergent anal appendage in dorsal view. C. calamineum is commonly found on ponds and drains. It is widespread in Peninsular Malaysia, Thailand, Java, Lesser Sundas, Sulawesi and the Philippines (Orr, 2005; Phan, 2011). This species normally breeds in grassy ponds and other disturbed standing water habitats (Phan, 2011).
