Taxonomy

Description

Chalybeothemis fluviatilis is a small species of skimmer dragonfly belonging to the family Libellulidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 21 mm in length. It has a dark unmarked body, thin abdomen and slightly swollen at the base which is nearly cylindrical. The hindwing has basal patch of brownish tint. The female is very similar to the male (Orr, 2005). This species can be found in lowland areas such as slow streams, marsh and swamp forest pools, and lakes, including reservoirs (Dow, 2019). It has a distribution in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand (Dow, 2019).
