Taxonomy

Description

Macromia cydippe is a species of dragonfly in the family Macromiidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 41 mm. The body is smaller and more slender than M. westwoodii. The inferior anal appendage is distinctly longer than superior anal appendage. This dragonfly normally breeds in lowland sluggish streams with clear water. Unlike M. westwoodii, the larva of Macromia cydippe has short legs and is found in leaf packs. It is widespread in Sundaland and Thailand (Orr, 2005).
