Description
Macromia gerstaeckeri is a species of dragonfly in the family Macromiidae. It is widespread in Sundaland except for Borneo. This dragonfly is the smallest Macromia in the region with distinctive anal appendage. Its hindwing may measure up to 31 mm. The Larva has a long-legged and flattened body which lives in shallow reaches of sandy-bottomed forest streams in moderate currents. Adults can be seen flying rapidly along stream margins and over sand-bars (Orr, 2005).
