Taxonomy

Description

Heliaeschna crassa is a species of dragonfly that belongs to the family Aeshnidae. Its hindwing may measure about 49-52 mm in length. The male can be identified by the superior anal appendage, which is distinctly pointed and little recurved at the inferior anal appendage. In contrast, the female has dusky brown wings. This species inhabits lowland swampy forests (Orr, 2005). It can be found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand (Dow, 2020).
