Description

Calicnemia chaseni is a species of damselfly in family Platycnemididae. Its hindwings may measure up to 19 mm. The entire abdomen of this species is richly red with strongly banded yellow color on its head and synthorax (Orr, 2005). This damselfly can be found in vicinity of small streams and springs in the sub-montane to montane forests up to 1,600 m above sea level. It always perches conspicuously in sunspots on low vegetation overhanging water. It is widespread in Peninsular Malaysia and extreme south of Thailand (Orr, 2005; Dow, 2020).
