Microhyla ornata is a frog species with a small head and body. The tips of the toes of this species are swollen, without discs, and only rudiment of web at the toes. This species has two metatarsal tubercles and its tibiotarsal articulation reaches width of neck which sometimes nearly to the eye. The measurements of snout to vent length for males range from 22 mm to 26 mm and for females range from 24 mm to 32 mm. The altitudinal range of this species is up to 2000 m. This species can be found in Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Cambodia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Malaysia, Macau, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
