Description
Heliogomphus kelantanensis is a species of dragonfly in family Gomphidae. It is distributed in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore. Its hindwing may measure up to 25 mm in male and 27 mm in female. H. kelantanensis is the only small-medium gomphid with uniform olive-green sides to thorax. The male's anal appendage is relatively short and dark while its larva is flattened and has broad 2nd antennal segment. This dragonfly is a rare endemic inhabitant of forest streams. It normally breeds among rubble in swift water (Orr, 2005). Habitat loss through the clear-cutting of forest for agricultural use is a major threat for this species (Dow, 2019).
