Description
Gomphidia maclachlani is a large-sized dragonfly belongs to family Gomphidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 41 mm. This dragonfly has robust and pale greenish-yellow to light orange marking on its body. The female has similar markings to male. Adults like to perch on twigs overhanging water. The larva is rounded and flattened as genus Ictinogomphus but it is more robust with heavy spines and lives in leaf litter. The species normally breeds in sluggish in lowland forest streams and widespread in Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and southern Thailand (Orr, 2005).
