Description

Gomphidia abbotti is a species of dragonfly in the family Gomphidae. Its hindwing may measure up to 42mm. This species has banded with pale green-yellow color on its abdomen at least from segment 2 to 7.  The female has the similar markings to male but the pale bands on its abdomen are broader. G. abbotti is commonly found in lowland forest streams which is it prefers slow-flowing water with substrate of sand or mud. It is widespread and quite common in Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Burma to southern China (Orr, 2005).
