The cap of this fungus is plane to slightly concave. It is smooth and olivaceous brown to dark snuff brown in the centre becoming paler towards the margin. The margin is strongly striate half-way up to the centre of the cap. Crowded gills are pale yellow in colour while its stipe is hollow and bears a membranous with pale orange ring. The base of the stipe is encased in a thick white and sac-like volva. It is fairly common in Peninsular Malaysia where it can be found growing singly or in groups.
