Phallus luteus is a species of fungi belonging to the family Phallaceae. It can be measured about 15-20 cm high. This stickhorn fungus had an off-white bell-shaped cap on a stalk with a yellowish lacy skirt-like structure hanging beneath the cap, reaching almost to the forest floor. On top of the cap, which had a white-edged circular opening in the middle, was covered by a foetid, dark greenish brown and slimy spore mass when mature. It usually grows singly on the ground, expands and then collapses very quickly, all in a matter of a few hours.
