The head of Bocourt’s Water Snake is distinct and the pupil vertically elliptical. The body is stout and cylindrical; its scales smooth. The body colour is dark brown above with narrow, irregular, yellow crossbars while the lower sides are yellow with the dark dorsal colour. It inhabits the coastal and lowland areas. Females give birth to 6-17 young of about 22cm.
