Gea spinipes, or commonly known as spiny Gea, is normally found on the geometrically symmetrical orb-web among very low vegetation. Females can reach up to 11 mm which makes them easy to be seen and photographed. Males are significantly smaller. Their webs are hardly more than one meter from the ground, often decorated with stabilimenta. The webs are covered with water droplets, making them visible from quite a distance. This spider will instantly drop from the web and disappear on the ground vegetation as it encounters threat. This species is widespread in India, China, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Taiwan to Borneo.
