Clanga clanga is a species of bird belongs to the family Accipitridae (Hawks and Eagle). It is also known as Greater Spotted Eagle (BirdLife International, 2021) or Helang Bintik in Malay. The adult is a large, all-dark eagle that can reach up to 70 cm in length with pale under tail-coverts, broad wings with wide bases and a short rounded tail. The legs are yellow and pale. While the juveniles have a similar feature but are heavily spotted with rounded white marks that form bars across the upper surface of wings, some white on upper tail-coverts. It feeds on small ground mammals and birds (Davison, 1995).
The Greater Spotted Eagle can be found in open country, and swamps, especially along the coast. It occurs throughout most of Europe and Asia to Thailand, and Indochina (Davison, 1995).
