Description
Commonly known as Stripped-tit Babbler or Kekicau berjalur in Malay, Mixornis gularis is a small-sized bird measures around 14 cm in length. It is widespread in the Oriental region which ranges from India through South-East Asia and extending to the Peninsular Malaysia and Greater Sundas. In Peninsular Malaysia, this species inhabits the lowland rainforest up to 1,220 m above sea level. It can also be found in the mangroves habitats (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
Both sexes of Stripped-tit babbler have rufous brown crown and upperparts, light yellow underparts with thin blackish streaks on its breast. Its diets include small berries, tiny insects and seeds. This bird produces a monotonous ‘chonk-chonk’ uttered repeatedly (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
