Medmassa insignis, which is also known as caramel-strip Medmassa, can easily be recognized by the caramel-coloured trimming at the edge of the carapace and caramel longitudinal pattern at the back of its abdomen. This spider is active at night. This species inhabits the tree trunk in lowland dipterocarp forests and is widespread in Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.
