Description

Chalcorana chalconota (Copper-cheeked Frog) is a small to medium-sized frog with a distinctly pointed head and clearly visible eardrum. The female can grow up to 59 mm while the male can grow up to 44 mm. C. chalconota has moderately long legs with fully webbed toes except for the fourth toe; the tips of the digits of both fingers and toes are distinctly enlarged, forming rounded discs.  In general, the colouration of this frog is green above and white or cream-coloured below. The sides of the head and body are usually brown or olive while its upper lip is distinctly white or light-coloured compared to other areas. The back skin is finely pebbled, with an indistinct ridge or folds along each side. The Copper-cheeked Frog feeds on a variety of insects and spiders. It is found perching in shrubs and small trees in primary and disturbed forests. This frog species is common in all parts of lowland Borneo but it also found from southern Thailand to Java (Inger & Stuebing, 2005).
