Drepananthus deltoideus is a tree that can grow up to 25 m tall. The genus name drepananthus is derived from the Greek words drepanos means falcate or sickle-shaped, and anthos which denotes to flower. The combination of this two terms describing the sickle-shaped flower petals of this genus. Meanwhile, deltoideus is a Latinised Greek term meaning triangular, which describe the triangular-shape of the sepals. The dried twigs are varying from brown to dark brown.  The leaves blades are obovate or oblong-obovate with size ranging from 6.5–29.0 cm long and 4.0–13.0 cm wide. The texture of the leaves are chartaceous to subcoriaceous and glabrous on the upper surface, except for the short hairs on the midrib, with the midrib on above is immersed, but the beneath is prominent. The leaves occasionally becoming more or less glabrous with age and when dried, it might turn to various shades of brown, occasionally greenish grey. This species has fragrant flowers that appear at intranodal or behind the leaves and does not clustered to each other. The yellow petals are flat and linear, fully covered with dense pale adpressed hairs, that range in size from 3.5–5.0 mm long, 3–5 mm wide for outer petals, and 2–3 mm wide for inner petals. When dried, it has between 10 and 15 ellipsoidal monocarps that are approximately 2 cm long and 1 cm in diameter and are unevenly shrunken between the seeds. According to records from Turner et al. (2014), this species is native to Borneo, where it can be found in lowland and hill forests at altitude up to 1,100 m in Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Kalimantan.
