Description

Anisophyllea sessiliflora is a small tree with a straight bole that can reach 13 m tall and up to 24 cm in diameter. The epithet name is derived from Latin words ‘sessili’ means stalkless and ‘flora’ means flower which refer to the lack of pedicels in male and female flowers. This species has been reported from Peninsular Malaysia (Johor) and Borneo. It can be found in logged forest at 120 m altitude (Kiew et al., 2018).

Anisophyllea sessiliflora has a smooth bark with brownish to red inner bark. The sapwood is yellowish-brown to yellow. Its branches sparsely pubescent with glandular hairs. The leaves are elliptic-lanceolate with petiole 0.5-0.8 cm long. The inflorescences are supra-axillary spike, usually branched at base. Its flower are unisexual and flowering occurs in January and April (Kiew et al., 2018).
